Primož Trubar

In Slovenia the 31st  October is Primož Trubar’s day. On 24 st October our class visited his birthplace – Rašica. We travelled by bus. It was a long journey but it was worth.

When we arrived, the guide was waiting for us. He showed us some books that Trubar wrote and told us about his life and work. His father was a miller, so they weren’t poor. Trubar went to school to different towns, a year in Reka and two years in Salzburg. We learned some interesting facts about him. He was the first to give our nation its name – Slovenians and a language. The guide told us about the important people in Trubar’s life. One of them was the bishop Peter Bonomo who alloowed Trubar to read the books of contempoarary writers and get informed and educated that way. Primož Trubar wrote the first printed books in Slovenia – Abecednik and Katekizem. First he used gotica but hten he prefered latinica.

I think Primož Trubar was a very important man and a great writer.

Whisper

Whisper is the book of a very famous German children’s and youth writer Isabel Abedi. It is a crime and love story. It was published in 2007. The book talks about a weird family which came on summer holidays to the country.

Kat is a very famous film actress, Noa’s mother and Gilbert’s friend. The family lives in Berlin. Gilbert loves reading fat books which talk about ghosts, the universe, clairvoyance, etc. He also has a statue of the Buddha. Kat is always in the centre of attention. Noa’s real name is Nora (after the famous actress Nora Gregory), but she didn’t like it so she took the R away.

Kat’s agent hires a five hundred years old house in the country on her wish. Kat, Noa and Gilbert are supposed to spend summer holidays there. The owner of the house is a farmer named Hallscheit.

When they enter the house, Noa smells a perfume. It smells very strongly, as if someone has put it on recently, even though the house has been closed for thirty years. The smell disappears in a short time. They eat dinner in an inn called Kropp, a little away from the house. Marie, Esther (Marie’s mother in law) and Gustav (Esther’s son) work there and are the owners. They live above the pub. Marie has two sons: David, who is the similar age as Noa and Kalle. David helps Kat, Noa and Gilbert to renew the house. Noa and David soon fall in love. One evening they play calling ghosts.  There appears the ghost of a girl Eliza, who was murdered in the attic of that house thirty years ago.

The new owners find a lot of things which belonged to their predecessors. Noa and David find out that girl Eliza really existed. They communicate with Eliza by a piece of paper on which numbers and letters are written. Eliza is gives them various hints and helps Noa and David to expose a cold-blooded killer. Eliza also wants them to find her diary. Noa and David find it and read it. They realize that Eliza had a very sad life. One August night David, Noa and the two brothers from the village come to the attic of the house where Noa, Kat and Gilbert live during the summer. They don’t expect anybody there, but a murderer comes. He nearly kills Noa too, but luckily David saves her. The perfume, which belonged to Eliza, disappears from the house before they call the police. Eliza has gone from this world. A few days after this event, summer holidays finish and Noa, Kat and Gilbert go back to Berlin.

I read this book many times and it seemed very interesting every time I read it. I recommend it to anyone who loves crime and love stories. You shouldn’t be scared of thick books, too.

The legend of The Stabbed Maiden

There once was a maiden with a heart pure as the morning sun. She wanted no trubble, she wanted no pain. Just to fill the world with light and joy, to finally make Earth a better place, helping the poor and mistreated, fighting for justice with her energetic bright greeen eyes and long beautiful golden hair, she looked like a goddess. As she travelled around the globe, helping people, showing, that there are still good people on Earth, restoring faith in humanity, a young man came her way. He was tall, handsome with hair black as coal and grey eyes that shined like a star in the night sky. His face pleasing to the eyes, no woman could resist him. But the maiden knew that she needs to be careful, as they say, that every charm has its dark shadow. But when he looked at her and smiled, she knew it was fate. Together, hand in hand, they went adventures ahead. From Africa to China and even to America, they brought a peace and justice to the people in the oppressed places, fought crime and brought back, what was stolen, showing a new side of the world. It was trully done anything. She was the light of hope and he was the shadow of justice. Nothing could come beetwen them. But one day eventually all came  to an end. When the devil raised back from shadows. He started doing other things, bad things he shouldn’t have been doing. And eventually she saw it all, under the moonlight when the cold knife blade of reality slipped right throught her chest. Backstabbed and careless she was left alone in her sorrow and misery. There was no light in her eyes, there was no joy on her face, it all began to  fade and left the blck and white pain behind. It was all over, all that she believed in gone in a flash. So unfairly and brutal done she was given another chance. She got up and all that she felt was revenge. He was careless and clueless satisfied with what he did, he was caught unprepared. The black blade stung in his back and he finally got what he deserved. He thought he ould have the world, he thought he could have it all and in the end he lost everything. Stung back by The Stabbed Maiden. They say that she still walks around with a knife in her back, carrying the burden that no one pulled out still hungry for revenge, sworn to help the stabbed souls, pull out the painful blades and give back the backstabbers what they deserve.

The cruel art of justice.

The Door Guard

I work in the king’s castle. My job is to guard a small door in the lowest level of the dungeon.

For two years, I hace seen nothing and I’ve heard nothing. Nobody has come in or out of that door. But two days ago, I heard a faint rumpling noise coming from the other side. And yesterday, the noise got louder…

After te noises continued and have gotten louder every day I went to the king to see if he knows anything about it. When I told him he was surprised and started laughing (and smiling), but remained silent about the door. The next night I saw him walking throught the door with a lot of meat I went silently behind him. Inside I saw a little cuddly dragon. The king saw me and told me that this dragon was very powerful even though he was small and he shall protect the kingdom from trouble one day.

My holidays

For my summer holidays we wen to Croatia. I played with my friends outside and in the water. In the evenings I went running with my father and sometimes with my friends. We played badminton, volleyball and tennis twice a day. Occasionally, we watched a film or a DVD. I and my friends dived in nice warm water and we collected different shells, too. My summer holidays were amazing, but I missed my friends and school, too.

The box

I was walking down the street when I saw small wooden box by the road. Suddenly, I heard a voice say, “Help! Let me out of here!” To my surprise, the voice was coming from the box.

And then I opened the box and a light suddenly came out and I was in a dark and magical space. I was on the Moon. And the box was with me. In front of me was a little cute cat, with a mane like a lion, two big blue eyes and black fur. And then a spoke “Hello! Did yu call me? Is everything alright with you?”

“Yes, I called you, because I’m in danger. An alien wanted to attack me because he wanted to throw me to his spider pet for lunch,” said the cat. I got scared for my the little kitten and decided to help it immediately. Thank God I had my magical ring with me. I picked up the little kitten in my arms, turned round my magical ring and in a second we were safe at my home in my room.

The little cute cat with a mane with a mane like a lion two big blue eyes, and black fur stayed with me forever.

Castle Turjak

Castle Turjak is 500 years old.

First there was a very small fesung, but it was too small, so they built a bigger one.

In the 13th century it was much smaller. Now the castle is 60% renewed.

If somebody attacked the castle, they had a fountain and a pantry. Thay also had a kind of a basement where they had a food.

There’s also a chapel (Dalmatin’s chapel). It’s the oldest castle chapel. It’s got the name “Dalmatin’s”, because Jurij Dalmatin was transleting the Bible there. There’s also an armory next to the chapel.

In the castle there was and there is still a prison, that was once 20 meters deep, but now it’s just 5 meters.

Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

On Tuesday, 17th December 2013 students of English extra language class went to Gorizia in Italy. In Cultural Centre of Lojze Bratuž we watched the play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Only 3 actors from München performed different characters. They spoke English so it was more difficult to understand the whole story. The play looked like a horror show at first, but in the story we were able to recognize good and the bad sides in people and the consequences of events.

Lots of students have never had the opportunity to watch a play in another language s this was definitely an interesting experience we’ve nnever done before.

Watching the play was an exelent opportunity to see how good our English is.
