A Strange Encounter

It was a cold, dark night. A strong wind was blowing and there was a car driving down the road. Suddenly the car engine broke down and the car stopped. The driver stepped out of the old broken car and closed the door behind him. He wanted to check the engine, so he opened the car bonnet and tried to figure out how to solve the problem. He didn’t have a phone, so he looked round to see who could help him. He saw an old lonely house a few metres away. He walked to the house and knocked hard. He heard a dog barking, but he couldn’t see it. Then the old dark door opened with a squeaky noise. There was an old woman standing behind the door. She was short and she had long grey hair. “Hi”, said the woman with a creepy voice. The man was scared, so he screamed loudly and ran away. It was dark outside so he couldn’t see where he was going. He ran as fast as he could, but then suddenly he tripped and fell over a high cliff into the cold dark water. He could hear the woman laughing loudly. The man touched the seabed and pushed himself up to the sea surface. When he reached it, he cleared his throat and wiped his big brown eyes. He opened them and saw the old woman standing on the edge of the cliff. She was carrying a small blue bag. The man screamed again, because he didn’t expect her to be there. His short legs hurt so he looked for a way out of the freezing water. He noticed a small obsolete pier with a couple of small boats around it. He looked at the cliff again. The woman wasn’t there anymore. She was descending down the hill with a long rope. When he saw her, he was very scared. He started swimming towards the pier as fast as he could. He climbed the old ladder and got on the pier. The woman was already on the short coast heading to the pier so the man started to panic. He jumped on one of the boats and tried to start the engine, but it didn’t work. The woman was in front of the man, who gave up trying to escape. Then the woman opened the mysterious bag, pulled out a water bottle and said: “Do you need help?” Then the man said: “Weren’t you trying to hurt me?” “Oh, no! Why would I ever do that?” she said. It turned out that the woman was absolutely friendly and nice.
