THE PAPER n. 1 CHRISTMAS EDITION
Christmas is an amazing holiday full of happiness and love.
It originated in Rome at about 336 A.D., however, it wasn’t until the 9th century that it became a major Christian holiday. It’s celebrated on December 25th. The tradition of sending Christmas cards started in the 19th century England.
It’s that time of the year right now and I hope you will spend it with your loved ones.
Mina
Does anyone even remember what life was like before Covid? Nobody was wearing a mask, kids were having fun and playing with each other and we could hang out with anyone without restrictions. But it seems those times have passed. We must accept what we have and try to take the best out of this situation.
So what can we do? Stay inside all the time?
Not necessarily. Just because we are not as free as we were, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with family, healthy friends in school or even alone. You can visit the Andrew’s Fair in Italy. Even though there is nothing fun to do there because of the pandemic. There are just food (mandolat, fritters) and clothes stands. Now, when Christmas is close, we can set up a Christmas tree and have dinner with our closest family members or even share that with other relatives and friends via phone or computer. This is a magical time that we should fill with love.
I hope the holidays won’t be destroyed by disease, quarrels among people or dangerous pyrotechnics. Just enjoy the time you have with your family and friends, celebrate and be grateful for what you have.

GARFIELD AND SANTA
It was Christmas Eve. Gingerbread was being baked, everyone was having fun and every Christmas decoration was hanging on the Christmas tree.
Garfield the cat was sleeping in the corner under the Christmas tree. He was dreaming about an endless bag of food that Santa will bring him. When it was midnight, only Garfield was in the living room and was, of course, asleep. All of a sudden, he heard a strange voice, which came from the fireplace, and then something or someone fell down. Garfield jumped up and started to run until he saw a good man that was bringing his endless bag of food to him. He carefully approached him and was just watching him.
One gift was for mom, one for dad and one for Jimmy the baby. And then he saw it…the biggest…the fullest…the yummiest bag of food that was just for him. He started to eat and eat but quickly fell asleep.
In the morning, the whole family came to see what Santa brought them and they were excited! Mom asked Garfield if he saw somebody but Garfield couldn’t talk…how could he, with a mouth full of food!

The film is about how the Grinch hates Christmas and wants to steal it. He invents an ingenious plan to destroy Christmas and carries it out. However, he realizes that Christmas cannot be stolen or erased because gifts are not everything. A 6-year-old girl named Cindy-Lou Who helps him come to this realization. In the end, he returns all the presents and decorations he had stolen and no longer hates Christmas. He even becomes kind.
We find the film beautiful, interesting, imaginative, fun and suitable for all ages. It holds a nice message that gifts are not everything, that Christmas is about spending time with the ones you love. We highly recommend watching it. lf you prefer reading, you can read the book since the film is based on it.

The Valley of the Kings
I will describe the Valley of the Kings.
The Valley of the Kings is also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings. This is a legendary valley, where many pharaohs’ tombs were found. The most famous discovery is the tomb of pharaoh Tutankhamun.
The valley lies on the west side of the Nile, opposite Luxor, within the heart of the Theban Necropolis.
The Valley of the Kings consists of two parts: the East Valley, where most of the tombs were found, and the West Valley. Archaeologists found 63 tombs there. Now there is a tourist centre and the exploration still continues in the Valley
Looking at pictures and reading about it, I hope I will get the chance to go to this Valley when I grow up.
